Description

NICEIC Domestic Gas On-Site Guide Part 1 & 2 (2026 - V12)

  • Part 1 deals with the fundamentals
  • Part 2 deals with specific appliance types (boilers, cooker, fires, etc.) found in the domestic gas sector.
  • The Guide is also a valuable aid for gas engineers preparing to undertake ACS assessments (initial & re-assessment).

  • Overview of Changes:

Various editorial amends that do not affect the technical content of the guide have be made, i.e., updating references, contact information, etc.

    • Chapter 3; 3.8 Information on the requirements to install Carbon Monoxide detectors for new or replacement fixed appliances rewritten to better reflect the requirements of the four nations of the UK; Wales having recently updated their own Approved Document J ‘Combustion appliances and fuel storage systems’.
    • Chapter 5; 5.6 Information on the requirement to employ ‘safe to touch’ processes has been further clarified to emphasis that not only gas pipework [the Chapter’s subject] needs to be checked before being handled, but that any metallic conductive component including appliance cases need to be checked for the presence of any dangerous voltages.
    • Chapter 8; 8.1.1 Minor update to account for July 2025 amendment to the Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure [IGEM/G/11 Edition 2 including Amendments July 2022, June 2024 and July 2025] - limited examples provided within the Guide, Table 8.2 sees minor revision for damaged meter boxes or pathway for gas to enter a property, and pipework suitable for the gas being used but used in an inappropriate location/situation.
    • Chapter 14; 14.11.4 Minor amend to Table 14.1 to delete the first row “Is the appliance installed in...” to reflect recent update to Gas Safe Register TB 14(B), Edition 2.
