Form of Contract - The Grey Book, Adjudication Rules, 4th Edition, 2016
The Grey Book was published in response to the statutory right to adjudication, which was introduced to construction contracts for work in the UK by the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and in Northern Ireland by the Construction Contracts (Northern Ireland) Order 1997.
Dispute resolution is now firmly established and the fourth edition of The Grey Book has been prepared with the benefit of greater experience of the adjudication process. It takes into account decisions of the courts and responses to comments received from current users.
The Grey Book should be used in conjunction with IChemE’s Forms of Contract for work covered by the provisions of the Act or the Order - clauses on statutory adjudication are incorporated into the contracts. This procedure set out aims to resolve disputes quickly, preventing lengthy and costly delays.
